Owasso’s Chloe Stocksen – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Owasso Drug Pharmacy

By Derrick Smith

There can be a multitude of memories or exciting moments during the career of a high school student-athlete. Some can be personal moments or milestones, while others may be team accomplishments. Chloe Stocksen says that she has a couple of moments that she loves the best.

“One personal highlight for me happened on the court last season,” she recalled. “We were playing against Muskogee and as time was winding down, I hit the game winning shot. That was an incredible feeling. But I also consider the relationship between my team as the biggest highlight because I have met some of my lifelong friends while playing basketball.”

Chloe is a junior at Owasso High School. She plays point guard on the basketball court for the Lady Rams. She says she began playing in the fourth grade and it has taken a lot for her to become the player she is today. “It has taken a ton of hard work at practice and on my own,” she stated. “Over the summer break, my summer coach, Danielle Miller, pushed and encouraged me every day. I worked the hardest I’ve ever worked and ended up making more than 15,000 shots in my driveway. Consistency and determination have been the reason for my success on the court.”

While she has put in a lot of work to become the player that she is, Stocksen says she has had a lot of people that have been there for her. “The biggest influences on my life have been my parents,” she said. “They have taught me the importance of putting others first andI believe that has made me a better teammate. I am also thankful for my coaches and teammates through the years.”

As the Lady Rams take the court this basketball season, Stocksen is excited to see what happens with her squad. “This year is definitely a turning point for the Owasso Lady Rams. Tobey Nightingale, our new head coach, has already challenged and inspired us to work harder than ever before. She has set high expectations for our team and we are working to meet them every day.”

Besides basketball, Chloe is also involved in with the National Honor Society at Owasso High School and is part of the student leadership team for the youth group at her church.
