VYPE: What are your personal goals this year and how is the season going?
Holland: Obviously we all want to win state and that is our main goal but for me personally I want to make sure I’m always encouraging my teammates. Our season is going great, we have really come through and shown who we are, we have had ups and downs, but I think what sets us apart from other teams is that we recognize how we failed, and we work together to figure out how to do better next time.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Holland: This year we got the opportunity to take our team to Alabama for the Southern Coast Cup, I think almost all of our team can agree that the coaches put together a great trip and really tried to make it the best time, and it was. Plus, both JV and Varsity won the tournament, so that’s always nice.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Holland: I’m going to have to say Mrs. Barger and Carr. They have been my mentoring teachers for the past four years. They are understanding and kind and you can tell they care about their job and their students. The environment they create for anyone who comes into their classroom is warm and welcoming, and they are determined to make Owasso a unified inclusive school and I admire that.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Holland: Beating Bixby has to be at the top of my list so far, we still have more to accomplish but for now that has to be the best memory. The atmosphere was insane. The heart and work ethic all the players put onto the field was inspiring and so entertaining to watch.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Holland: Last year’s seniors like Alayna Myers and Chloe Wilkins will always have a special place in my heart. But a teammate who has really inspired me is Mia Wright, she is positive constantly even after tearing her ACL her senior season. The way she encourages the team and still stays involved is really heartwarming. She is the definition of a good leader and teammate and I think everyone can learn from her.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Holland: I’m going to have to give this one to me and Zoe Slagle. I think I do a pretty solid impersonation of coach Bowers and as far as comments during games me and Zoe keep the bench alive and engaged. Anytime someone falls on the field we make our best pew pew sound and snipe them out.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Holland: Hawaii, I love, love, love the beach! I would take Madison Rhodes and Zoe Slagle, we hangout after soccer everyday so a whole vacation together would be amazing.
VYPE: If we gave you 500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Holland: I would get the Locker-room a new, nice couch since our current one has mice living in it.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Holland: I just want to say thank you to my team, my last year of soccer has been the best one yet and I know it wouldn’t have been that way if it weren’t for my teammates. I also want to say thank you to my coaches for making it a fun and enjoyable year, they really want us to have a good time and we all appreciate them, even if we don’t tell them.
