Owasso Rams Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by Derrick Jameson J-P Hogan Insurance

Coach: Kendall Standridge

21-22 Record: 10-16

The Lady Rams are going to have a lot of new faces on the court as they start this new season. They will be ready to face the challenges and get the program back to its winning ways. The head coach of the Lady Rams, Kendall Standridge, says that even with a lot of turnover from last season, she is excited to see how her team steps up. “We graduated a strong core of seniors so we are young this year,” Standridge said. “Our team knows they have a lot to prove and is eager to start competing. We play in a very competitive district on the east side of the state which will test us every week. I look forward to watching how our team responds to that challenge.”

One player that should play a big role will be Makenna Yokley (5-11, Jr.). She averaged nine points and six rebounds last year. She is a match up nightmare with her size. Her length allows her to play on the post but she can handle the ball extremely well and take defenders off the dribble. Chrinasia Elbert (5-3, Sr.) will be a burst of energy when the team needs it. She has committed to putting in extra work in the weight room and getting shots up. While her commitment to the team has grown, her play on the court is expected to do the same.

Addy Pruitt (5-4, Jr.) is tough and not phased by physical play. Her natural nose for the basketball finds her in key plays and situations every game. She will be looked upon to be a big time player this season. Kynlie Wilson (5-6, Jr.) cares more about the team and its culture than any personal accolades. She always seeks to lift others up while also holding them accountable to our standards and expectations.

Seldon Stover (5-7, Jr.) unfortunately suffered an injury and will be out for this season, but coaches expect her to be back and ready to contribute next year. Laila Hamilton (5-8, Sr.) is out for the start of the season but coaches are optimistic about her return by the end of the season.

Stepping up this year and expected to make an immediate impact will be Amarion Tease (5-8, Jr.), Alex McGarrah, and Addy Ewing. Other Lady Rams that will play significant roles include Jordan Wolford (5-2, Sr.), Mackenna Wright (5-4, Jr.), Jayelle Austin (5-8, So.), Addi Drummond (5-7, So.), Haiven Weems (5-6, So.), and Estella Jones (5-3, So.). The assistant coaches this season are Rachel Skalnik, Jasmine Crisp, and Tim Beacham.
